Missing In Action

Hello out there.....

Are you still there?

Well I know you are because every now and then a comment pops into my inbox, and I am struggling to keep up with my blog reading..... you all write alot

I have been missing in action, and trust me there has been plenty of action going on around here.

Life has been crazy busy with training, kids stuff, coaching and courses.

I have started my swim squads which are ticking along. Not alot of people about yet, but the word is spreading and there is new interest each week - just gotta turn it into attendance. There was a huge amount of crap going on trying to get the lanes booked - people are very unsupportive of new people coming into "their" patch and it was incredibly difficult to get going. I was tempeted to give in, but I haven't, and hopefully things will get better from now on. Thanks to my friends for supporting and encouraging me. Without you I would have just tossed it in. So, I am doing 3 coached sessions a week which is keeping me busy on top of my "normal" job (the one where I actually make some money).

My first client is doing her first ever triathlon in a few weeks. I am soooo excited for her and I can't wait to be sideline cheering her on. I know what a big buzz it was to finish my first one, and I truly hope she enjoys it and gets bitten by the bug like I did. She has learnt to swim as an adult which is extremely difficult, and is doing really really well at it now.

This weekend was huge, having attended a full day first aid course on Friday, did 4hours of brick training on Saturday, and then a full day swimming technique course on Sunday. This trying to change your career business is very expensive and time consuming I have to say, but it is great to be doing something that excites me. It makes it all worthwhile!

The kids started Nippers Surf Lifesaving on the weekend and loved it! Unfortunately I missed it due to my swimming course, but they had a ball and I will be there next week to take a look. I've never had any involvement in surf lifesaving, so it will be neat to do something different with the kids.

The boys are loving their new bikes they got for their birthday. Last Thursday I had to ride with them after I had done a 2 hour run that morning. My legs were hammered, but I can't very well say no to them getting out and being active can I? I'm looking forward to the long training being over so I can enjoy that stuff.

After my 2 half ironman races, I am backing off that distance and going to concentrate on shorter ones - the olympic distance is still enough of a challenge without the big commitment to training. So, to that end, The Saint and I booked a trip back to Mooloolaba in Australia to go and do that triathlon in March - it includes an ITU race which will be exciting to watch. There is normally a good contingency of New Zealand elite competitors at that event, so we can cheer for them! I Can't Wait! I've been dying to go away and do a triathlon overseas, and Mooloolaba is just gorgeous. It will be a whirlwind trip - just 5 days, but it will be fun. It is a festival of events including a 5km run, an ocean swim, a criterium bike race, a kids triathlon, and of course the olympic distance triathlon at the end of it all. FUN STUFF...

So, best be off now as have coaching tonight and the kids are at Scouts and need dinner before they go. Life is just one big blur, but it is fun (most of the time anyway).

Take care...... til next time

it sounds as though you have been too busy having a great time and building your future to post - and thta's great! Two half-irons coming up! Cool! I wish there was a half-iron with a slower cutoff time near us, I'm so slow on the bike I'd never make the cutoff :(

YEA FOR THE FIRST CLIENT! How exciting!

I know what you means about falling behind too. We're all in the same place, so it's all good. :)

The pool thing...we have that too and it drives me crazy. Come on! Share people!

Congratulations on your client's upcoming first triathlon That's exciting. I was tempted to say something about training for TWO half irons - but I suppose since you've done the whole thing, breaking it into two will be cake. :D And finally we get to Mooloolaba - which looks like it would be ridiculously fun to say if I were brave enough to attempt it. Have fun there!

Congrats on the client! Don't give up on the swim yet. The first year is tough but the next year wod of mouth has spread enough.

Besides the pool people are just pushing you to see if you'l stick around.

Come back next year and they'll show you respect.

Busy being a SUCCESS to those you are coaching. Congrats and keep digging. The attendance will follow as long as a class exists!

I think you are doing great with balancing everything and following your dream of being a coach. Certainly not easy and sometimes the balance gets skewed but you are doing it. I am happy for you!

I'm back on Blogger now at http://ramblingbydesign.blogspot.com/

You may need to change the link in your reader and sidebar

So sad our Australia trips will not put us in the right spot to meet. So close, yet still too far away. :(

Sounds like you have been very busy! That is so exciting that your first client will race soon.
